Gas consumption has also dropped by more than 40 per cent. Morbi ceramic industry was again on track after GST & demonetization. However, After the first wave of Corona, due to high demand for ceramic tiles and sanitary ware products from abroad, the ceramic industry was doing good business. But after the second wave of COVID-19 there was lockdown again in country. because of lockdown the ceramic industry is again going down. & domestic demand is hitting a lowest record. Production in more than 300 units has come to a completely stop from this month. about 100 factories are already closed a month before. Morbi Ceramic Association's President Mr. Mukeshbhai Kundaria has confirmed that after the second wave of Corona, production has been very less, in most of the units because of lowest demand of products. and about 40 per cent of the ceramic units are currently closed already, especially because of lockdown in the states of Maharashtra, Delhi, Bengal and South, the business is almost like closed in domestic market. He added that if such a situation will continue, then many units could be shut down. meanwhile, The Leading ceramic industrialist Mukeshbhai Unghareja has said that in this epidemic, the business is running for export orders only, with more than 40 per cent units in wall tiles and double charge are closed. and only GVT, PGVT units are operating. Gas consumption has also come down by 40 to 45 per cent this month due to the closure of ceramic units, he was adding that under normal circumstances, the gas bill was over Rs 76 lakh & the current (this month) gas bill is Rs 4.3 lakh only. the second wave of Corona epidemic is proving to be deadly for Morbi's ceramic industry. As per ceramic industry's experts, If the lockdown continues in other states in the coming days, then it will create a very difficult situation for Morbi's ceramic industry, which is paying wages to many workers.
